Job Description

The opportunity

This Manager, Tax position will be responsible for providing tax support to the Private Equity Infrastructure Unit. This will include working closely with the Infrastructure tax team as well as the Business Unit on all tax related matters for existing and future Funds such as managing and reviewing all Federal and State Income tax filings, assisting in the preparation and reviewing tax provisions and related disclosures, performing tax research on technical matters, assisting tax legal where applicable, calculate and report tax withholding, providing tax related information to investors including estimates, work with internal and external auditors, manage external service providers, manage information with respect portfolio companies and calculate and report carry. This role will also be involved with new strategic initiatives and participate in resolving complex technical issues for the assigned area.

  • Federal and State Tax Returns

  • Manage and review federal and state income tax returns, supporting documentation, and disclosures. Including federal and state extensions and payments.

  • Assists with technical review of transactions.

  • Assists with tax law change analysis.

  • International Tax Compliance :

  • Manage and review information related to VAT tax, and other foreign filings when applicable.

  • Tax Withholding and reporting

Manage the indirect reporting process which includes:

  • Collecting and working with outside vendor to vet withholding tax documents

  • Calculate withholding and provide information to infrastructure operations team.

  • Provide answers to Investor questions promptly.

  • Work with outside vendor to produce and report year end filing requirements (1042S)

  • Provisions: Assist in the Review of Fund tax provisions including monitoring state tax rates.

  • State related accruals, and state inquiries and audits where applicable

  • Administration: provide tax fee budgets to operations team as well as review and manage the payment of external fees.

  • Goal setting & delivering results :

  • Participates in strategic and tactical goal setting for the group and is accountable for delivering results.

  • Responsible for performance-management related activities, such as goal setting, monitoring goal completion, on-going coaching, performance appraisals, etc.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

  • Master’s degree in Tax or commensurate education / experience desired

  • C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant) or similar designation

  • 5+ years of tax experience with at least 5+ years dealing with corporate and partnership tax or relevant issues. Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency of financial accounting, reporting, and compliance, computation of Federal taxable income and Federal tax, industry specific tax rules, taxation of transactions, state, local taxation concepts and procedures, understanding of technology that supports all tax functions, partnership concepts and tax matters.

  • Knowledge in private equity structures is required.

  • Advanced organizational, communication and collaboration skills

  • Proficiency with managing various workstreams and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Effectively uses experience and business knowledge to solve problems and contribute to organizational goals.

  • Advanced research skills, solves problems independently.

Decision Authorities:

  • Empowered to prepare, analyze, and review assigned tax filings, provisions and various other tax calculations and is accountable for delivering accurate and timely results.

  • Review and sign-off on check and e-treasury requests

  • Participates in strategic and tactical goal setting for specific projects and is accountable for delivering results.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$86,325.00 USD - $155,385.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
