Our Health & Life Sciences Solutions & Platform (HLS S&P) organization is an interdisciplinary team of product managers, designers, engineers, and clinicians who are designing, developing and deploying next-generation healthcare solutions powered by the Microsoft Cloud for healthcare organizations around the world.

We are looking to hire a Business Analyst II to join our team. As a Business Analyst II, you will be an integral member of a team within HLS S&P's Chief of Staff Office that is working to deliver critical operational programs to the leadership and operational team. The candidate will be excited about waking up every morning to apply their skills in analytics, financials, and reporting centered around driving positive business decision outcomes and developing and deploying new technologies and experiences centered around driving positive healthcare outcomes.

We are looking for Business Analyst II with experience working with business analytics and dashboard reporting, ability to interface with varying levels within the organization, internalize the needs of the various initiatives, and implement a solution to solve the business problem for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the Business -Develops depth of understanding of the business across multiple areas, considers relevant external trends, anticipates business problems, and probes for insight to understand problems beyond stated concerns. Begins to connect themes across internal work activities and relevant external trends and anticipates potential business questions.

  • Expertise in Data - Leverages appropriate types of data and/or metrics, determines alignment with business needs and whether to integrate additional data. Identifies and takes steps to address gaps and/or quality issues in data with data providers, in partnership with other teams.

  • Data Analysis - Determines appropriate analytical tools and techniques to address business questions, executes analyses and interprets results with actionable recommendations, and partners to build on others' frameworks. Critically evaluates assumptions about data or analysis methods to ensure they are appropriate for answering business questions in context and provides feedback on features and functions of analytical tools (e.g., algorithms, statistical models) developed by Engineering or Data Science teams.

  • Presentation of Results - Develops appropriate presentations that tell stories of analyses, including dashboards, reports, data visualizations, self-service platforms, slides, and talking points. Ensures presented results are accessible, provide information accurately and clearly, and appropriately speak to the needs of the intended audience(s). Recommends and makes improvements to presentations as appropriate.

  • Evaluation - Determines factors and/or data types to include in the evaluation of the impact of business, product, and/or operational decisions with little or no guidance. Ensures that evaluations can account for anticipated risks and applies learnings from previous evaluations. Analyzes and reports results or expected outcomes, and identifies relevant recommendations and/or connections to results of other work.

  • Orchestration and Collaboration - Works within and across teams to deepen expertise in data sources, methodologies, analytical tools and processes, and business and client needs, to facilitate relevant insight generation, reporting, and interpretation. Engages stakeholders to identify and act on opportunities to leverage resources and solutions that were instrumental to success in similar contexts, and consults across teams on decisions related to analyses, insights reporting, and/or their interpretations.

  • Improvement, Efficiency, and Innovation - Recommends efficiency improvements for core work related to analytics and reporting that are reusable, self-service, and directed to meaningful interpretation of data and driving business decisions. Evaluates the viability of automated methods for use in reporting, and/or analysis and makes recommendations for whether to make them standard practices

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

  • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

  • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with Dashboard/Reporting tools such as PowerBI and Qlikview

  • High performing knowledge of Excel and other database tools

Business Analytics IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
