Job Description:

As an Emergency Department Technician, you are responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.
Education Qualifications:
Duties will include but are not limited to:
CPR
Wound care including irrigation and dressing
Splinting and immobilization of bone injuries
Suctioning of patients
Performing EKG’s
POC testing
Obtaining non-invasive specimen swabs such as throat cultures
Crutch fitting
Ambulation education
Suture removal
Transporting of patients between departments
Providing personal hygiene care
Assisting with nutritional needs
Providing comfort care and other assistance
Appropriately and safely transferring patients
Taking vital signs and completing record keeping
Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Completion of EMT or, NAR or, LPN or, Medical Assistant program or BSN student who has completed at least 3 years of schooling, or must be licensed in respective area (EMT, NAR, LPN, CMA) upon initial hire or currently employed in the SJMC Emergency Department as an Emergency Room Tech.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (Must obtain within 1 month of hire)
