Manager, Coding Quality & Education - Remote

What you’ll do:

As a lity & Education, you willdirect the activities of the Coding Quality & Education department. Is responsible for providManager, Coding Quaing oversight and day-to-day management of the processes related to the medical record reviews to monitor and audit functions that test and confirm clinical compliance with regulatory requirements and with the organization's written policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, overall responsibility for the planning, administration, control, and quality management of Coding Quality & Education Department activities in addition to regular reporting of department progress and initiatives to HSC leadership.

Responsibilities:

· Responsible for oversight of the coder monitoring and education program to prevent and detect potential coding, billing, and payment errors.

· Develop and manage direct reports; and oversees the development and management of indirect reports.

· Direct the department monitoring program that determines the accuracy of the code assignment by comparing the services provided, documented, and billed and educate department and hospital staff on proper coding, billing and documentation standards and rules.

· Plan daily operations of the department in conjunction with the AVP of HIM Operations and participates in development of objectives to meet KPI’s.

· Direct and maintain adequate staffing and workflow to meet the department needs. Monitor various reports and productivity to ensure department objectives are met. Interview, hire, provide leadership, counseling, training for employees in areas of responsibility. Ensure new employees are oriented and trained in all job functions. Perform counseling both verbal and written for employees requiring additional assistance as evidenced by communication in the personnel file.

· Serve as a resource regarding policies/procedures/practices and identify areas of improvement/education through data collection, analysis, and reports.

· Oversee and participate in performing hospital coding compliance audits and other projects related to coding compliance.

· Assist in developing and executing ongoing education/training for hospital staff, leadership, and colleagues regarding coding in adherence to The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Standards of Ethical Coding, The Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (ACDIS) Code of Ethics, Official Coding Guidelines, Lifepoint Health policies and procedures, and International

· Maintain skill in using Classification of Disease tenth revision (ICD-10) rules and regulations.

· Communicate with Ethics and Compliance Department members, hospital Health Information Management (HIM) coding, and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) regarding coding audit issues, current coding regulations and Utilization Review concerns.

· Collaborate with Quality Management and Clinical Documentation Improvement departments to ensure compliance standards are being followed according to regulatory requirements.

· Review proposed, concurrent, and retrospective physician queries to include but not limited to, formatting, process, responses, education, and tracking, to ensure all are compliant with AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and ACDIS Code of Ethics and Lifepoint Health policies and procedures.

· Assist other staff members regarding documentation and coding compliance to include but not limited to, researching codes, explanations of services, and answer coding questions.

· Undertake continuous education courses to maintain knowledge base, auditing, and management skills consistent with the organization's and department's professional development requirements and individual credentials.

· Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

Education:Associate's Degree orany equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience:Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in auditing or coding, with 3 years’ specific experience in hospital/clinical coding.

Certifications:Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Documentation Improvement Practioner (CDIP), or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) Certification preferred.
