GENERAL DUTIES
I.T. Support Assistants (E.O.C.) support routine operations and problem resolution of computing and/or communications functions at a CUNY Educational Opportunity Center. They work in technical support, applications development, operations, help desk, and similar environments, as well as in the field where equipment may be located. Educational Opportunity Centers offer academic and workplace development programs such as G.E.D. and College preparation, English as a Second Language, and Business Skills workshops.
Work tasks include:
-Operating, transporting, adjusting, and installing/configuring computing and related equipment
-Communicating with technology users and staff to understand, identify, document and resolve problems
-Performing simple repairs to computing and related equipment.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Institutional Planning and Evaluation Department at the SUNY Bronx Educational Opportunity Center seeks applications for a provisional IT Support Assistant Reporting to the Associate Director of Enrollment Management and Records; the IT Support Assistant will perform the following:
• The assistant provides basic technical support to faculty, staff, and students via phone, remote, and in-person. This support covers network access, e-mail, operating systems, standard software applications (installed by the office), mobile device support, and other technical issues.
• Maintains, distributes, and supports desktops, laptops, printers, and other approved hardware.
• Assists in preparing reports about Service Desk activities.
• Assistants utilize the service desk trouble ticket system for incident/service management, asset
tracking, change management, etc.
• Manage website and social media accounts.
• Supports the optimal operation of the IT department support team through timely problem resolution, escalation, and follow-up.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
Eighteen months of related full-time work experience or equivalent, such as completion of eighteen college credits in Information Technology
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are preferred:
• Strong familiarity with Windows desktop operating systems up to and including Windows 10
• Support knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), networks, wireless, mobile devices, Active Directory user management, hardware (desktop/laptop/printers), anti-malware software, remote desktop
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve fundamental computer and network issues
COMPENSATION
New Hire: $43,390*
Incumbent: $49,032*
*This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression for only the first 24 months of employment.
