BronxCare Health System Lead X-ray Technologist, Department of RADIOLOGY in Bronx, New York
Overview
Provides assistance to the technical staff in the absence of the supervisor, performs and obtains high qualityradiographs on all patient (i.e. In-Patients, Emergency Room patient or Private Out Patients); recognizes the needfor and utilizes safe practices by shielding and collimation (ALARA principles) accordance with regulatory anddepartmental policies. Transports patients to and from X-ray rooms as required. Provides patient comfort (e.g.,bedpans, blankets) as required. Maintains a clean and safe work area following Infection control standards toinclude X-ray room, X-ray equipment and accessories. Informs appropriate personnel when equipment is in needof repair.

Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvementactivities of the assigned department. Participation in continuous QualityImprovement, adhering to the specific rules and regulations of BronxCareHealth System (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management Incidentand Occurrence reporting, (c) Infection Control Standards and (d) Patient andCustomer service.
Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patient (i.e. In-Patients,Emergency Room patient or Private Out Patients); recognizes the need for andutilizes lead shielding where appropriate in accordance with departmentalpolicies.
Utilizes all X-ray equipment permitted within the scope of their license andrealm of their training.
Assists under the direction of the supervisor in overseeing the flow of patientneeding x-ray exams.
Schedules and coordinates the time of transport to and from a sonography forinpatients and ED patients. Ensures inpatient schedules along with preps areposted on the hospital intranet daily. Functions independently with regard toindividualizing each exam relative to clinical history, reviewing orders, labresults and prior imaging utilizing the hospital computer system and radiologyinformation system in accordance to hospital policy.
Transports patients to and from X-ray rooms as required. Provides patientcomfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required.
Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with aknowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the agesof the patients served.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives,quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection controlstandards. Communicates supply shortage /inventory needs to supervisor.
Recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and crucialconstruction within the department.
Maintains a clean and safe work area following Infection control standards.
Attendance and punctuality (Start of work and return to work from breaks andlunch) is maintained in accordance with hospital policy
Qualifications
Three (3) years’ experience as an X-ray Technologist, One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
New York State License as an X-ray Technologist
American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Registered)
Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
