M&T Bank Senior Director - Corporate Security in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Manages the Corporate Security Department including Physical Security, Executive Protection, and Digital Forensics. Supports and oversees the protection of people, property, and assets of the corporation. Ensures compliance with all federal and state banking laws relevant to corporate security functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict compliance with Federal Regulation H and the Bank Protection Act of 1968, including minimum standards for security devices and procedures to discourage robberies, burglaries, and larcenies. Facilitate identification and apprehension of those who commit such crimes.

  • Design and maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Oversee bank tamper-resistant locks, alarms, closed circuit surveillance activity within the property, and use of identification devices.

  • Manage training of employees regarding corporate security program responsibilities related to selecting, testing, operating and/or maintaining security devices.

  • Serve as corporate liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

  • Recommend best practices to minimize burglary and robbery risks.

  • Support executive management through risk identification and exposures associated with criminal activity; recommend necessary controls to protect bank assets.

  • Oversee background investigations, internal and/or external criminal activity, crime and incident reporting and serve as corporate liaison to private, public and government sectors.

  • Oversee security vendor accounts ensuring development and implementation of operational procedures.

  • Manage the annual Corporate Security Department capital budget process.

  • Manage the Digital Forensics Program ensuring the development, implementation, and execution of Digital Forensics duties.

  • Manage the Executive Protection Program ensuring the development, implementation and execution of executive protection operational duties.

  • Exercise usual authority of a manager related to staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  • Understand and adhere to the bank’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the proscribed risk appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the bank’s brand.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The position is a critical and major function of the organization and is responsible for ensuring the safety of the bank’s employees and customers. The position interacts with internal departments and senior management.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 11 years’ relevant work and/ or military experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 15 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 11 years’ relevant work and/or military experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience

  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local criminal laws

  • Prior experience with standard asset protection devices

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Minimum 11 years’ experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or military service field

  • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional ASIS certification

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $140,621.49 - $234,369.15 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
