Overview of the Position:

The Shipping Assistant is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments. The Shipping Assistant prepares all the paperwork accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operates various shipping equipment and programs (i.e., UPS, FedEx, etc.)

• Enters data into mainframe computer system.

• Interfaces with quality assurance and other distribution personnel.

• Enters required data into carrier system ( Ups, FedEx, and DHL) or completes manual airway bill or bill of landing form as necessary

• Calls courier to schedule pick up ( for trucking and / or daily carriers)

• Interfaces with accounting on held orders, credit card issues, etc.

• Completes US Government required Shipper's Export Declaration for all export shipments

• Back up order picking activities.

• Assumes responsibility on government contracts orders on packaging operations.

• Interfaces with window customer pickups.

• Assists sales rep on FOB charges

• Interfaces with the Export Compliance Dept. on export shipments

• Assumes responsibility on AOG service.

• Work overtime as required by production requirements without notice.

• Basic skills in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and C-Pro 2000. Must be computer literate with capability to operate Office Suite, FedEx and UPS Shipping Software.

  Education / Experience Requirements: High school diploma or GED. 1-3 years of related training or experience. Experienced with DHL, FedEx, and UPS. Experience of Export 8130, SED and SLI processes.

  Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
