Phillips 66 Canadian Crude Supply Director- Canada West in Calgary, Alberta

The Canadian Crude Supply Director provides the following activities from a Canadian perspective for the following refineries: Billings, Ferndale, Los Angeles while considering market impacts, profitability and operational risks through collaboration with Houston VCO counterparts and other BU as required.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Develop, implement and maintain crude strategy for each refinery within the region to include:

  • Champion dialogue with the refineries to determine and optimize crude slate

  • Work with plants to review crude availability assumptions

  • Systematic approach to regular crude slate strategy review & setting across all refineries grounded in

  • Evaluate lease term & spot crude sources with consistent metrics set; mix optimized based on economic and general interest considerations

  • Provide and understand market direction and intelligence by conversations with Traders and outside contacts to better optimize Crude selection and help refineries with current and future planned runs or Turnarounds

  • Work closely with Scheduling to ensure refineries get the optimal slate as requested

  • Oversee the purchase of Canadian pipeline and waterborne crudes

  • Oversee accurate nomination and scheduling and delivery of volumes to refineries specifically within region scope

  • Provide initial refinery demands for Canadian crudes and update throughout month as values change

  • Provide monthly inventory estimates for Canadian to scheduling team and watch inventory positions for accuracy for refineries and feeders

  • Build and maintain 3rd party relationships across pipelines and energy companies and participate in external shipper meetings

  • Serve as the point of contact for Canadian supply and logistics agreements or movements and lead investigations on discrepancies within region scope

  • Work closely with F&PA to review crude costs and participate in calls with refineries to review them as needed.

  • Provide input, analysis and guidance on potential business development, capital projects and other profit improvement opportunities

  • Participate in long range planning and strategy around refinery assets.

  • Liaison with refinery regarding potential capital projects and

  • Serve as the backup to the Canadian Crude Optimization Director

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3 or more years of Commercial experience in the fuel industry and value chain (refining, marketing, transportation)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability and willingness to work extended and non-standard hours, and/or be available 24/7 for questions/updates, and cover all issues during weekend or holiday coverage

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct refinery operations support experience

  • 1 or more years of experience working with financial products/contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps, options, futures, and forwards)

  • 3 or more years of experience scheduling petroleum products

  • 1 or more years of contract negotiations

  • Analytical approach to problem solving

  • Self-motivated

  • Ability to adapt to changing environment
