Under the supervision of a Cardiac Electrophysiologist and within the Nurse Practitioner's competence, the Nurse Practitioner provides specialized services to clinical electrophysiology patients. This includes managing and treating cardiac rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and other complex arrhythmias. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the planning and coordination of all aspects of the workup and care of patients referred to the electrophysiology service.

Summary of Essential Duties:

  • Acquire and perform history and physical examinations

  • Record and interpret pertinent data (i.e., labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.), including writing orders and discharges, evaluating, treating, and diagnosing patients under the supervision of a licensed physician.

  • Coordinate ongoing overall patient care with physician staff, nursing staff, and other ancillary care providers to ensure treatment plans are implemented

  • Assist or perform bedside procedures within the scope of service Maintain communication with patients and families regarding care Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to deliver care appropriate to adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices

  • Perform other related duties as required Participation in Quality activities, including Unit Practice Committees

The NP will be working with a large team of PAs/NPs and will be responsible for providing comprehensive electrophysiology care primarily in the outpatient clinic, consultative service, and the procedural area.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master of Nursing Degree.

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered.

Experience:

  • One (1) plus years’ experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred.

  • Two (2) plus years of cardiac nursing experience.

Licensure/Certifications Requirements:

  • Current CA RN License.

  • Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing License.

  • National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

  • Current DEA License.

  • Current ACLS required.
