Groundskeeper II - Grounds

St. John's Regional Medical Center

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Groundskeeper II to join our team. As a Groundskeeper II , you will be responsible for maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of our outdoor spaces. Your duties will include mowing lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers, and ensuring that the grounds are free of debris. Additionally, you may be required to perform basic maintenance tasks, such as repairing irrigation systems and handling minor landscaping projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good physical stamina, and a passion for creating visually appealing outdoor environments. Responsibilities

  • Performs the landscaping and groundskeeping at both campuses St. John's Regional Medical Center & St. John's Hospital Camarillo.

  • Maintain lawns by mowing, edging, and fertilizing.

  • Trim and prune trees, shrubs, and hedges to ensure a neat and orderly appearance.

  • Plant flowers, trees, and shrubs according to seasonal guidelines.

  • Remove weeds and unwanted vegetation.

  • Ensure proper irrigation and perform minor repairs when necessary.

  • Clean and maintain outdoor structures, such as walkways and parking lots.

Qualifications

  • Four years of ground keeping experience with three of these years in a commercial or institutional setting and two years in a supervisory position.

  • Two additional years may be substituted for educational requirements above.

  • Extensive knowledge of the practices principles methods and equipment used in gardening and grounds maintenance.

  • Skilled in operating equipment associated with gardening and grounds maintenance and the ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs to this equipment.

  • Must have good mechanical abilities.

  • Considerable knowledge of plant diseases, pests and methods for their control.

  • Knowledge of safe use handling and disposal of chemicals associated with grounds keeping activities.

  • Must have good written and oral skills.

  • Must have a valid California Driver's License and must be approved as an authorized driver of hospital vehicles by CHW.

  • Associate Degree in Landscape Horticulture or Certificate of Achievement in Landscape Management from an accredited college preferred.

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$23.00 - $28.69 /hour
