    Job Description

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR II, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory (PILM), to work under the direction of the senior financial officer and assume responsibility for administering complex and comprehensive pre- and post-award financial activities and sponsored program administration for PILM’s sponsored research and gift accounts. Will help monitor and resolve complex financial issues and advise on matters pertaining to the financial management of PILM; operate independently, establish relationships with faculty and other stakeholders, and escalate complex matters to the senior financial officer as needed. The position involves working closely with PILM faculty, headquarters’ staff, support staff, and other staff members; MIT’s offices of the Vice President for Finance, Research Administrative Services Gift Office, and Audit Division; MIT Staff and other administrators in similar positions at the Institute; and with donors, vendors, fellowship and funding agencies, and counterparts at other universities. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; at least three years of experience in accounting or finance; experience with pre- and post-award administration; knowledge of federal guidelines; proven track record of working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines; ability to work independently, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; solutions-oriented approach to responsibilities and ability to independently solve complex problems with minimal supervision; strong communication, analysis, and organizational skills; customer service orientation; and attention to detail.
