Canastota Tool and Die is seeking a Tool Maker to work in their Canastota Facility.

$25 to $40 per hour depending on experience level.

• Assists the General Manager with his/her duties as required.
• Ensures that assigned scheduled work is completed on time, and meets all quality standards.
• Informs the General Manager of problems, especially those that affect safety, or could cause delay in meeting customer deadlines.
• Keeps scrap and rework to a minimum by closely following all machining and inspection procedures. -Identifies tools that are dull or broken and takes appropriate action.
• Performs general maintenance on machines during shift, including but not limited to checking /changing coolant and oil, changing filters, cleaning coolant tanks,etc.
• Informs General Manager of the need for production supplies and tooling, in time to allow for ordering and receiving.
• Keeps work area and machinery clean and in safe condition by performing routine housekeeping during, and at end of each shift.
• Obeys all safety rules, and company rules and policies.
• Maintains tardiness and absenteeism to 2% or less.

Requirements: - Must have a strong knowledge of math, algebra, and trigonometry. - Must be able to read and write English well enough to understand process instructions, work orders and other paper work. - Prefer a HS graduate with practical knowledge and hands on experience in the Toolmaking Field. Practical experience in a related field may be acceptable if the candidate is willing to undergo training. - Must be physically capable of loading and unloading parts from machinery. Ability to assess methods of handling and locating parts weighing in excess of 500 Lbs. This will require use of cranes and forklifts. Ability and license to operate a forklift would be a distinct advantage. - Must be able to present at least three job references. - Must be capable of lifting 60 lbs. and stand for long periods.
