Robert Half is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a reputable Real Estate company. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. If you can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services, this role might be right for you. What you get to do every single day

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

    Requirements

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

  • Expertise in financial analysis

  • Month end closings experience desired within a Real Estate or Property Management company

  • Strong communication and social skills

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Prior work in Real Estate or Property Management is desired

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Experience with Yardi highly preferred
