Job Description Summary

The successful candidate will work within the GE Aerospace Wales Engineering team as a Special Process Owner. The role is office based but requires a large percentage of time to be spent on the shop floor working with maintenance technicians. The scope of activities ranges broadly from providing day-to-day technical support to maintenance technicians to working long-term Engineering projects as either part of a team or in an individual capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and developing a framework of special process control within the process areas of CMM measurement and calibration services. Key elements of this framework will include CMM program development and control, operator training, process audits, maintenance oversight as well as equipment specification, purchase and qualification. The candidate will need to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver results. This position will require a high level of cross-functional team working with departments outside of Engineering such as Operations, Planning, Quality, Sourcing and EH&S.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain special process control for all site CMM activities and calibration services.

• Provide day-to-day technical support to shop floor maintenance technicians, particularly in CMM programming and program control.

• Compilation of technical documentation to support Engine and component maintenance.

• Compilation of technical specifications for new equipment.

• Equipment commissioning and qualification.

• Continuous improvement of CMM program efficiency.

• Compilation of local policies to meet regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures within the Engineering and Calibration team.

• Vetting of Engine manuals and other OEM and customer published data.

• Engaging in Engineering project work to reduce maintenance costs and improve Engine/component TAT using lean principles.

• Implement digitisation of Engineering processes.

Required Qualifications

• MEng, BEng, MSc or BSc in an appropriate engineering discipline, or extensive hands-on experience in CMM programming and operation.

• Deep expertise in CMM programming, preferably using PC-DMIS software.

• Working knowledge of calibration services including ISO-17025 accredited calibration.
