EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in Carle Place, NY. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Preparation of environmental and building materials prior to analysis via gravimetric reduction for PLM & TEM analysisMust have good lab practices and able to handle a fast-paced, high volume work environment Assist with laboratory calibrations and maintenance of equipment. All equipment and workstations must be kept clean and free of particulate and contaminationsAssist with inventory, restocking of consumables and washing crucibles/labwareAnalysis of air samples via (PCM) Phase Contrast Microscopy - will train in-house on how to prepare and analyze air samplesOther laboratory and clerical duties such as waste disposal, answering phones, filing, scanning, copying, may be assigned by lab staff and manager as neededRequirements:High School degree/equivalent or Associates Degree in Life Science or two years of college course work completedOne to two years’ of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plusCandidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysisMust be able to work independently and with a teamMust be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignmentsMust have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skillsAvailable Shift:Sunday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Training schedule to start will be Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account.
