What is the job about?

In this role you will be part of the UK and Ireland HR team, you will be responsible for delivering HR support and applying specialised HR knowledge across the Sunderland Manufacturing Plant. You will be responsible for providing HR guidance and support to employees, managers, and business partners. It will be your responsibility to ensure compliance with labour and employment laws, company policies, and legal guidelines. Additionally, maintaining compliance with local legislation and global HR systems and processes is crucial. As a front office point of contact, you will handle HR related queries from employees and provide necessary assistance.

Your main responsibilities:

Labour Relations:

  • Support management, BPs, and HR Services on labour and employment law matters.

  • Provide legal advice on employment contracts, discipline, grievances, and family-friendly legislation.

  • Assist with absence management processes and referrals to occupational health.

Compliance:

  • Maintain company policies and procedures aligned with Group rules, policies, and local legislation.

  • Facilitate internal and external labour/personnel audits.

  • Support local mandatory and corporate compliance training.

  • Ensure GDPR compliance for HR documentation and information.

Front & Back Office:

  • Respond to HR-related queries, guiding employees and managers to self-service solutions.

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and process improvements with HR service.

  • Coordinate Employee Opinion Surveys

Employee Development:

  • Coordinate training activities, development plans and maintain training records.

  • Organize and deliver Orientation/Induction programs for new employees.

  • Manage apprenticeship schemes including recruitment and skills development.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding:

  • Coordinate recruitment and induction of agency workers and apprentices.

  • Ensure correct employment documentation collection and storage.

  • Handle eligibility checks, work permits, and updating HR systems.

Your background:

We anticipate our ideal candidate to have the following:

  • Good understanding of labour and employment laws.

  • Experience of HR in a manufacturing environment, preferred but not required

  • Solid administration and IT skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Familiarity with HR systems such as SuccessFactors and People Inc.

  • CIPD qualification and 3-4 years of relevant work experience.
