The candidate will direct the activities of Environmental Scientist(s), Laboratory Department, consultants, and other professionals and technicians assigned to certain projects. Reviews and analyzes proposed/existing legislation/regulations and provides input to management. Provides reports on environmental impacts of facilities and obtains licenses and permits. Provides technical direction for new and standard methods of testing used in gathering environmental information. Develops, conducts or evaluates studies and experiments to assess the impact of operating construction activities on the environment. Reviews and recommends operating and administrative procedures, records, and information required to support regulatory requirements. Assesses reports and data compiled by Company personnel, contractors, consultants, governmental agencies, and others in order to determine environmental impact of Company facilities. Demonstrated thorough understanding of issues associated with air, water and waste permits in general and specifically Title V, KPDES and Solid Waste permits as related to the combustion of coal/natural gas to produce electricity. In depth knowledge of a variety of environmental programs is essential including: Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR), Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, EPCRA Reporting, Spill/Emergency Response, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Risk Management Plan (RMP), Groundwater Protection Plans, etc. Provide leadership related to active projects at the plant including, but not limited to, landfill closure design, leachate collection system maintenance and upgrades, water treatment system design and installation, etc. Provides interface between various regulatory agencies' staff and the Company. Contacts consultants, governmental agency personnel, and others to gather and provide information relating to design and operations of facilities, compliance, and licensing. Develops and provides technical training, as necessary, in support of environmental regulations and related Company procedures.

Technical degree preferred in environmental science or related disciplines plus 7 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to perform professional environmental assessments and develop pollution control programs for Company facilities and operations. Experience in the planning and execution of complex assignments with considerable latitude for independent action or decision.
