Akumin Nurse Practitioner in Charleston, West Virginia

$10,000 Sign-on bonus relocation assistance provided

The Nurse Practitioner under the supervision of the Physician and in collaboration with referring specialists, assist in the consultation, diagnosis, treatment and overall management of the patient’s care. Provides patient with appropriate care plan as well as support opportunities for symptom and side effect management.

Essential Functions

  • Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval as needed for symptom and pain management.

  • Identifies/evaluates issues; reaches sound conclusions; generates alternatives; makes accurate and timely decisions with regard to sound patient care and communicates effectively with the Physicians and other medical specialists. Able to make tentative diagnoses and recommendations regarding the management and treatment of patients.

  • Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination. Obtains and evaluates complete patient medical history and performs physical examination on new, existing and follow up patients. Maintains documentation of patient visits, and communicates recommendations to providers.

  • Provides discussions on goals of care with all patients and their families, to include social, emotional, nutritional and other support as needed

  • Utilizes interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships within the medical community. Demonstrates ability to work as a team player and function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Education

  • Master's Degree

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations

  • NP License & RN License, or

  • NP Certification & RN License, and CPR Certification

Experience & Skills

  • 3 – 5 years RN or NP position

Preferred

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in PC based word processing including Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred
