Equitable is looking for an experienced Billing Manager to join our Employee Benefits team. This role will lead of team of 12 – 15 onshore and offshore and be responsible for Equitable’s billing and premium collections for our Employee Benefits group. The Billing Manager will be reporting into Head of Financial Services for Employee Benefits. This position can be based out of our Charlotte, NC or Syracuse, NY with flexibility to work in office and remotely each week.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the billing team (onshore and offshore) to achieve departmental targets and ensures timely and accurate billing and premium collections for group policies including the management of payment delinquencies and timely termination of unpaid policies.

  • Operates as the primary liaison between Employee Benefits and Equitable’s Finance and Insurance Accounting teams on all billing related initiatives and day to day production support.

  • Oversees policies and procedures for past due premiums and compliance with governmental rules and regulations.

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal business areas, policyholders, and Partners/ Third-Party Administrators to resolve collection concerns. Monitoring SLAs and providing visibility to internal teams into issues/tickets.

  • Audits current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency and scale of billing and premium collections functions.

  • Operates as a relationship manager with EB’s billing vendor. Monitors adherence to TPA contracts, service level agreements and new compliance requirements in addition to engaging on day-to-day production support or initiative-based efforts.

  • Supervises billing team personnel (onshore and offshore), including work allocation, training, coaching and development of onshore billing team members; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

  • Supports the escalation lead on the billing team to resolve complex queries including the research & handling of escalated requests.

The base salary range for this position is $87,000 - $100,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 6 years of insurance billing experience, preferably in the Employee Benefits industry

  • 4 years of managerial experience leading cross functional teams

  • Hands on professional work experience improving operations processes that results in increased scalability and efficiency for internal and external partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office, highly proficient in MS Excel

  • Strong financial & customer service knowledge and experience

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
