Kayem Foods, Inc. Maintenance Supervisor - 1st Shift in Chelsea, Massachusetts
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures uninterrupted continuity of the facility, manufacturing, and support systems and processes throughout the facility
Support, monitor and expand Preventive/predictive Maintenance throughout all facility systems and machinery
Represents the company as a management team member, advancing the goals of Safety, Quality, and Productivity in a food manufacturing environment. Shift leader in safety directly responsible for implementing and supervising Kayem’s safety and BRC programs. May serve as a member of the Safety committee
Reviews ongoing efficiencies of manufacturing and support systems throughout the facility and make recommendations for improvements in production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Implements improvements as necessary
Directly leads, assigns and directs work, and evaluates team members job performance including overall job proficiency, adherence to company rules, policies and professional standards. Rewards, coaches, and resolves issues and complaints. Schedules team members to ensure that sufficient resources are available during production hours. Interviews and trains team members
Coaches and trains team members in proper troubleshooting techniques, maintenance, and repair of plant systems. Develops team members to enable professional advancement
Utilize and ensure utilization of CMMS system by team including work orders, purchase order, inventory control, maintenance and equipment history
Troubleshoots and repairs controls systems including network problems associated with PC’s, PLC’s, and various machine interfaces.
Utilizes knowledge and troubleshooting techniques with electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, variable speed controllers, robotics, automated packaging machinery, process equipment including pumps, valves, meters and mixing equipment.
Performs repairs and leads team members in diagnosing malfunctions or optimization of machinery and equipment and direct team members engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing machinery
Responsible to ensure all preventive maintenance is executed timely and properly (includes routine audits of PM’s and WO’s)
Confers with other Supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
Responsible for meeting the Maintenance Repair Budget and Building & Repair Budget
Works closely with outside vendors to help resolve equipment issues related to production
Performs other duties as assigned by Manager
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 5 years industrial maintenance experience and 2 years of maintenance supervision
Proficient in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs of industrial equipment and facilities including working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and facility systems (hot water, compressed air, refrigeration)
Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and repair instructions.
Knowledge of PLC’s is required
Thoroughness, follow through and Accuracy
Requires strong communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal)
Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence, speak, coach, and lead maintenance team and essential team members in the organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume (ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry)
Capable of defining problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variable
Ability to learn new information quickly (i.e. maintenance and administrative technology, significant initiatives and goals)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
