Responsibilities You will install, repair, or modify new or existing systems (e.g., high-pressure or deep vacuum piping systems, hydraulic, pneudraulic, fuel, and air filter) for working condition. You will maintain high-pressure piping systems and equipment (e.g., steam heating, steam generation, hydraulic systems, steam generators, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum, circulating pumps, radiators) for operational readiness. You will partner with key management to provide status and resolve work problems. You will install systems (e.g., steam heating, steam generation, hydraulic systems) for operation of high-pressure piping systems or equipment. You will calculate pipe, joint, or valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems. You will measure materials (e.g., piping, valves, fittings) to determine the correct fitting for the job. You will inspect and test systems for damage, leaks, and blockages in lines, expansion joints, valves and traps. You will determine causes of problems and recommend corrective action on pipefitting work. You will test piping systems at completion of the repair to verify they are operating according to requirements. You will troubleshoot high-pressure piping systems and equipment to determine the need for modification or repair for operational readiness. You will interpret pipefitting assignments (e.g., work orders, building plans, blueprints) to meet workload requirements. Education Additional Information This position requires working both inside and outside. Employee will be required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; and in close quarters. Employee is exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, scrapes, burns, and infections. Frequently required to make repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. Frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
