Job Description

U.S. Technology Infrastructure and Innovation (US TI&I) spans the areas of Technology, Information Security, Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Business Continuity Management, Data Management Office, Corporate Real Estate, Corporate Security, and Governance and Oversight. TI&I delivers operational excellence by effectively managing the technology and operations required to run the bank, enables the bank's transformation by focusing on clients, innovating for the future and simplifying operations and supporting the bank's growth objectives through flawless execution of strategic initiatives.

US TI&I Governance and Oversight is a first line of defense team which supports the departments referenced above. The Business Controls Manger will work closely with US TI&I Management and 2nd lines of defense (Operational Risk, Compliance) to develop and implement well managed business controls to ensure activities do not exceed the risk tolerance of the organization. This role will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and management of business controls within US TI&I.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point of contact for business control management across the TI&I organization

  • Support the design, execution, and reporting on business controls for all lines of businesses within US TI&I

  • Lead, coordinate, and liaise between US TI&I Lines of Business Managers and other lines of defense

  • Maintain an effective network of counterparts across the Controls community, TI&I Control Testing Team, technical SMEs and architects to prioritize and oversee strategic, high-visibility and mission-critical initiatives

  • Collaborate with TI&I business units in identifying, developing and monitoring new business controls

  • Provide risk and compliance guidance in developing, reviewing and maintaining business controls as it relates to US TI&I Lines of Business

  • Transform infrastructure controls and reduce risk through rigorous lifecycle management, vulnerability management and adherence to control standards.

  • Manage day-to-day risk issues; design and implementation of new controls and special projects

  • Update and maintain a risk and control inventory remediating any gaps and inadequacies

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the various moving parts and functions involved in the control remediation process.

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes across the industry, analyzing how the changes will affect the line of business, and support the creation of a strategy to implement such changes within US TI&I

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with risk management principles and the internal control framework used to mitigate risk.

  • Understanding of Banking Operations and Products.

  • Knowledge of US banking regulations (e.g., Compliance, AML, operational risk, privacy, etc.)

  • Experience with Metric Stream or comparable Governance, Risk and Control software is a plus.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to adapt to change quickly, multi-task and demonstrate flexibility in prioritization based on requested tasks

  • Strong oral and written communication skills at all levels of an organization

  • Forward thinker, strong drive, and ability to work independently in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable performing ad-hoc statistical analysis using pivot tables, vlookup, complex formulas, and other advanced Excel functions to determine root causes and trends related to testing failures
