JPMorgan Chase Lead Technical Program Manager - Chief of Staff in Chicago, Illinois

Leverage your deep technology delivery management expertise and leadership to guide cutting-edge projects, fostering growth and innovation in a dynamic environment. As Chief of Staff for Reference Data Engineering, you will focus on activities relating to both strategic business planning and functional business management, supporting an organization of 400+ engineers and $70M+ budget. As the trusted partner to the Chief Business Technologist (CBT) of Reference Data Engineering and to its Business Stakeholders, you will work with the CBT and technology leadership team to define the strategic plan, measure performance and execution against strategic goals, and operationalize the programs to support the strategic goals of the organization.

As a Lead Technical Program Manager in the Corporate Sector's Reference Data Engineering team, you will drive the successful delivery of complex technology projects and programs that will help reaching business goals across the firm. Leveraging your deep knowledge of project management principles, practices, and theories is essential for developing innovative solutions, while simultaneously effectively managing resources, budgets, and high-performing teams. Your strong analytical reasoning and adaptability skills will enable you to navigate through ambiguity and change, ensuring that technology initiatives align with business goals. With advanced communication and stakeholder management abilities, you will foster productive working relationships and influence decision-making to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. As a subject matter expert, you will contribute to the development of operational plans and risk management strategies, ensuring the highest quality and professionalism in service delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business stakeholders, to define program scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment; Advanced expertise in stakeholder management, with the ability to establish productive working relationships and influence decision-making.

  • Develops and manages internal communication strategy including leadership messages, forums, and planning annual meetings as part of the communications and change management responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced analytical reasoning to assess program performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness including preparation of various management reports for business operations and decision making

  • Champion the adoption of scaled agile methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team and collaboration across all engineering & product teams.

  • Collaborate with the CBT, Business Stakeholders, and Finance and Business Management in the management of technology spend, monthly finance & business reviews, revised forecasts and the budgets. Ensure alignment of spend to budget plan. Leads the annual budget planning and monthly business review process for the tower.

  • Lead the definition of organizational Objectives & Key Results and facilitate the monthly tracking & reporting of progress towards targets.

  • Establish and manage product and portfolio governance, leadership, and a prioritization process, and a clear and readily accessible view of the portfolio within each product. Drive, facilitate, and maintain technology portfolio to enable active management, prioritization and a continual view of strategic imperatives and resource allocation.

  • Ensure an effective workforce management resource strategy for the tower, including skills, types of roles, physical location strategy and variable resource use. Coordinates and facilitates succession planning and year end performance calibration.

  • Support tower level Controls & Audit Function working closely with Corporate Technology leadership and technology teams. Drive proactive identification, prioritization and timely mitigation of technology risks, controls and audit validations. Partner with Enterprise Technology teams to continuously improve the controls environment.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in technology program management, leading complex technology projects and programs in a large organization

  • Advanced expertise in stakeholder management, with the ability to establish productive working relationships and influence decision-making across cross-functional teams and clients

  • Ability to lead large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals and passionate about building an innovative culture

  • Proven track record of effectively managing resources, budgets, and high-performing teams in a fast-paced, agile environment

  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying analytical reasoning and problem-solving techniques to break down business, technical, or operational objectives into manageable tasks and activities

  • Strategic planning (e.g., roadmap creation and execution)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in technical program management, agile and project management practice and excellence and leading complex technology projects and programs in a large organization

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

  • In-depth knowledge of at least one related discipline (e.g., software delivery, infrastructure management, portfolio governance)

  • Advanced experience in utilizing technical fluency, including knowledge of vendor products and managing vendor relations, to enable on-demand access to shared pools of applications and services

  • Financial / Banking Industry experience and knowledge of markets, regulations, and reference data
