Supervises personnel engaged in transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or bridge inspection. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials, private entities and/or contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties: Oversees Consultant Contract Administration Coordinates with area engineers on design and plan preparation. Makes Presentations and represents TxDOT. Negotiates fees and budgets, develops and negotiates scopes of work, negotiates contract work schedules, and negotiates other contract agreements. Oversees career development activities for engineering assistants. Represents the Department at meetings, conferences and related activities. Schedules, coordinates and prepares documents for various technical meetings and public hearings at local, state, federal and/or international levels and/or conducts meetings. Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work. Trains engineering staff. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
