Job Description

How you will make an impact

Provides support to maintain regulatory compliance to environmental, health and safety and provide EHS support to construction activities on the Cincinnati, OH site. This individual will work with all Thermo Fisher Scientific employees and contractors on-site to ensure processes are in place and implemented to help reduce risks and help ensure construction activities are completed in a safe and timely manner.

What you will do

  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve our EHS programs and influence employees to do the same

  • Support day-to-day operations at the site as a member of the safety team and all EHS related activities for maintenance, engineering, and contingent workers

  • Capture and maintain monthly EHS data for analysis and reporting across the Engineering Department

  • Assist various Departments in the creation of Hazard Assessments

  • Actively participate in area Safety Committees and engage with Safety Champions

  • Perform or participate in EHS inspections/audits when needed

  • Own the lockout and machine guarding procedures for the safety program

  • Lead accident/incident investigations

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training to educate employees on safety regulations and requirements pertinent to the site

  • Maintain regulatory paperwork for various agencies as required

How you will get here

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in Occupational Safety and Health or related field

  • Minimum of one year of experience working in a EHS position

Experience

  • Construction safety experience is preferred

  • Safety Certified Professional, National Safety Council MESH, OSHA, NCDEQ or Advance Safety Certificate is preferred

  • Experience with biological/pharmaceutical manufacturing is desired with experience collecting, trending and reporting data

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations relative to work environment as well as other regulatory requirements including NFPA, ASHRAE, DOT, EPA, building and fire codes, etc.

  • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and FDA/industry expectations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of local/state requirements

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with associated officials and regulatory agents.

  • Outstanding attention to detail and organization skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure while multi-tasking and remain results oriented.

  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.

  • Strong team member who works well with others.

  • Ability and desire to learn biological/pharmaceutical processes and associated EHS requirements.
