Northrop Grumman has an exciting career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. We are seeking a motivated candidate who will be responsible for the design of machine control systems and process instrumentation per the NEC in manufacturing and lab settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, building, supporting, and continuing the development of automated manufacturing machines and systems.

  • Learning the details of currently implemented control system hardware and software for automated machines.

  • Supporting production in using the machines and integrating upgrades as needed.

  • Assisting maintenance personnel as needed when troubleshooting the equipment.

  • Participating in R&D efforts to improve system capabilities and bring new ideas into projects.

  • Overseeing and directing day-to-day efforts of tradesmen during machine build activities.

  • Strictly follows and adheres to departmental procedures and protocols

  • Works with vendors to ensure successful fabrication of machines and systems

  • Maintains documentation related to machine and systems design, fabrication and proofing

  • Provides estimates for new equipment and systems

  • Some travel to fabrication vendors and other Northrop Grumman facilities required

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal guidance and with a sense of urgency

  • Ability to be trained and a willingness to work with others in a team environment

  • Experience with project management including budget, schedule and technical

  • Experience with design, fabrication and installation of equipment and systems for large structures, rocket composite parts and assemblies preferred

  • Desire, i.e. passion, to build and manufacture support hardware.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources.

  • Leadership ability.

  • Technical attention to detail.

  • Drive and motivation to be proactive in problem solving and continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 8 years of related Engineering experience or 6 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree in STEM

  • Must be experienced in designing and building Industrial Control Panels

  • Must have experience with closed-loop servo and process control systems

  • Must have understanding and working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • Preference given to candidates with experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electromechanical background

  • AutoCAD Mechanical or Electrical

  • Indramat, Rexroth and Yaskawa servo equipment

  • Beckhoff PLC and EtherCAT equipment

  • Allen Bradley PLC and Ethernet systems

  • Industrial Safety Systems (ANSI 811 and/or IS013849)

  • UL-508A Standards

  • Industrial Robotics

  • Control System Programming

  • Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatics

  • Knowledge of current Safety Standards and Devices used in Automation Control, including, but not limited to motion, laser scanner, light curtains

Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
