Cleveland Clinic Nursing Department Assistant II U/ Patient Transporter in Cleveland, Ohio

As a Nursing Department Assistant II, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, established levels of supplies and proper equipment function. This role will also act as a Patient Transporter in which you will transport patients and complete errands. The caregiver in this role will work 8-hour shifts with varying start times between 6am and 11am.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for transporting visitors and patients via wheelchair, cart or bed.

  • Practices injury prevention.

  • Ensures safety of self and patient when transporting / transferring patient.

  • Performs other transportation functions as required including but not limited to delivery of patient specimens, medical records and patient care equipment.

  • Collaborates with members of health care team to promote the delivery of patient care and overall functioning of unit.

  • Maintains, cleans and adjusts department's equipment including wheelchairs as needed.

  • Observes and reports changes in the patient condition on an ongoing basis.

  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking, customer service, teamwork, multi-tasking skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

  • Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the work place.

  • Interacts with patient, visitors and all personnel in a courteous, helpful manner; and constructively resolves conflict.

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patients, families and co-workers.

  • Demonstrates respect for individual cultural and social differences.

Work Experience:

  • Health care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and frequent patient lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching and squatting.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
