The mission of the District Attorney’s Office is to keep the community safe and to make the criminal justice system better through the fair and ethical prosecution of criminal offenders, while seeking justice for victims of crime.

The Administrative Assistant for the Diversion Program Office provides administrative and clerical support to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Diversion program. Responsible for processing cases, documents, and data through case management systems and associated tracking tools, as well as the professional and courteous operation of the front office.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Meets and greets all customers, including clients, families, service providers, and visitors upon their arrival.

  • Makes outgoing telephone calls in support of program business such as scheduling intakes, calling victims, etc.

  • Manages scheduling intakes for walk in court hours

  • Receives incoming telephone calls, solving issues or transferring them to intended recipients.

  • Performs basic office duties, such as copying, filing, scanning, keyboarding, and sorting mail.

  • Receives, records, and processes program fees and restitution payments.

  • Sends initial restitution correspondence to victims

  • Prepares, composes, reviews, and assembles court and program documents and correspondence.

  • Maintains collegial relationships with counterparts in other District Attorney offices.

  • Facilitates transfer of cases to and from the main office, intake staff, and client managers.

  • Solicits and records program data for statistical purposes.

  • Purges and destroys electronic completed case files according to a previously determined schedule.

  • Orders and stocks office supplies.

  • Maintains orderly appearance of lobby, workroom, shared common areas, and personal workstation areas.

  • Works in collaboration with other Admin to achieve knowledgeable and professional operation to support the office and its clientele.

  • Contributes to positive work culture

  • Enters and updates client information in CDAC Module

  • Documents financial information in Diversion Module

Qualifications for Success

  • High school graduation/equivalent plus five years of full time legal assistant experience in a legal office, or

    Associate degree in a relevant field, plus three years of full time legal assistant experience, or

    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, plus one year of full time legal assistant experience.

  • Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and members of the public.

The ability to speak, read and write Spanish with proficiency is highly preferred.
