Pilgrim's MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - Night Shift in Cold Spring, Minnesota

POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Supervisor provides departmental direction and support, using coaching, motivation and supervisory techniques, ensures the teams achieve specified levels of performance. The Maintenance Supervisor continuously seeks process improvement through use of analysis of maintenance/continuous improvement methods and data as well as application of processing controls. The Maintenance Supervisor is required to coordinate multiple people and processes and integrate process/project activities in a manner that achieves bottom line success and the mission of Pilgrims.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hires, trains, coaches and motivates team members to achieve their maximum quality and productivity performance in their respective positions.

  • Plans and schedules manpower, materials, product and machines to most effectively and efficiently utilize departmental resources to achieve Pilgrims standards

  • Administers company policies and procedures fairly and equitable to maintain standards established for safety, quality, and overall company personnel satisfaction

  • Manages team member’s performance, providing positive and/or corrective feedback

  • Promotes department and company goodwill through pro-active team member communication and team member involvement

  • Investigates, in cooperation with other departments, areas of quality improvement, cost reduction, method improvement, yield control and equipment maintenance and provides suggestions

  • Develops and implements goals and objectives and departmental budget, maintaining necessary records to track, monitor and explain any variances from budgeted goals

  • Coordinates daily Maintenance work and preventive maintenance work to assure completion.

  • Assists in the planning, scheduling and coordinating the maintenance aspects of new equipment changes, line changes remodeling and construction.

  • Coordinates the repairs and maintenance of the facility’s equipment and the physical structure of the facility.

  • Maintains records and reports of all equipment in the facility.

  • Coordination and supervision of outside contractors for projects and maintenance support activities.

  • Participates in analysis, establishment, submission and adherence to departmental budgets.

  • Other duties as required.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be exposed to both an office environment and the production environment of wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor of Science, Business Management, Operations or Engineering degree is strongly preferred

  • Preferred certification or license as a Master Boilers License, Journeyman Plumber, Electrical or HVAC or as a Master Welder

  • Working knowledge of NH3 refrigeration principles and understanding of plant refrigeration systems

  • Working knowledge of electricity and theory

  • Ability to read and understand schematics

  • Ability to arc and gas weld (stainless-overhead and bench)

  • Considerable mechanical ability to analyze production machinery and their function and repair

  • Considerable skills in Excel, Word, and SAP

  • Considerable knowledge of processing operations

  • Considerable knowledge of supervisory management practices and principles

  • Considerable knowledge of maintenance management practices and principles

  • Considerable skill in oral and written communication

  • Considerable supervisory skill

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Marked ability to analyze and respond to production issues involving production processes

  • Limited travel, with overnight stays of 1-4 days.

  • Must be able to work varying days (including weekends).
