Federal Aviation Administration Configuration Management Specialist (Configuration Analyst) in College Park, Georgia

Summary The position is located in the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Eastern Service Center (ESC), Planning and Requirements Group (PRG) (AJV-E300), Enroute Project Implementation Team (AJV-E350). The position applies comprehensive knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) to manage the CM program within the ESC and is critical to the safe and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS). Responsibilities The Configuration Management Specialist will use experience and comprehensive knowledge of CM principles such as configuration identification and control to facilitate engineering review and disposition of national air space change proposals (NCP). The Specialist will oversee all aspects of the CM effort and formulate required reports, manage and track national air space (NAS) change documentation, and verify the accuracy of the NAS equipment and systems noted within the change. Plan and accomplish facility baseline and configuration audits for terminal and/or enroute air traffic facilities. Recognize and understand the difference between terminal and enroute air traffic control functions. Identify problems as they arise offering proposed solutions for those problems. Utilize FAA Order 1800.66, Configuration Management Policy to remain compliant with CM requirement and recommends improvement to the process. Track the progress of CM case files as they progress through the Web CM system to ensure they are reviewed and closed in a timely manner. Respond to CM program inquiries. Develop briefings for CM users and management. Contacts are routinely internal and external to the ESC and include representatives from FAA headquarters organizations. Acts as a point-of-contact to provide advice and guidance on the applications of CM policies and procedures. Frequently called upon to communicate FAA positions on policies and procedures internally and externally. Reports directly to the Team Manager, works independently, and has broad discretion to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify at the FG/GS-13 level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG/GS-12 or FV-H level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully in the duties of the position. Specialized experience: Describe your experience conducting Configuration Management reviews of facilities and systems to plan, manage and track changes to configuration documentation.
