Salary/Pay Range : $ 40,000 - $45,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary

This position will Assist the varsity men's basketball team for intercollegiate competition at a nationally competitive level.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Coaching

  • Train varsity men's basketball team for intercollegiate competition at a nationally competitive level.

  • Assist the head coach in developing and implementing game plans.

  • Maintain and increase knowledge of men's basketball training and coaching techniques.

  • Supervise the training, development, and placement of staff personnel.

Recruiting

  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes.

  • Develop and maintain correspondence for prospective student-athletes.

  • Schedule, coordinate and supervise official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes.

Academics

  • Monitor academic performance of student-athletes.

  • Counsel student-athletes.

  • Ensure compliance with all UCCS and NCAA regulations regarding academic eligibility requirements.

Scheduling

  • Assist head coach with planning and coordinating Division II schedule within NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and institutional guidelines.

  • Assist head coach with planning and coordinating team travel and lodging.

Tentative Search Timeline

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Coaching experience at the college or high school level.

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations in a multi-cultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

  • Head Coaching experience at the NCAA Division II level.

  • Proven ability to motivate the scholar athlete to perform in the classroom and playing field.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, reach, handle, have near acuity and visual depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
