Job Summary

Leads the development and implementation of business solutions for safety and health (S&H) information management across the AEP system. Analyze and resolve complex system issues and act as a consultant to others on technology issues. Perform project management duties on large and complex assignments., Recognized as an expert to support the administration of the S&H management tools and information technology (IT) systems utilized. Work with S&H staff to support, develop and implement new and existing tools in order to create more effective and efficient S&H management systems that can be utilized throughout AEP., Develop relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders. Provide leadership to less experienced S&H staff. Perform supervisory of others as assigned for development.

Job Description

This position is designated as "Hybrid" if located in the Columbus, OH vicinity .

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support, enhance and develop new and improved S&H tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Lead, support and implement independently information technology tools and processes for S&H management systems. Support safety SharePoint, Intelex, mobile applications or similar IT support software systems as needed.

  • Interface with the IT organization as required for the development and implementation of business solutions.

  • Ensure S&H programs include methods, procedures and performance measurements to assure a Zero Harm work environment through effective and disciplined adherence to all safety and company policies and procedures. Complies with regulations and procedures required by external agencies.

  • Effectively communicate project details and status updates both verbally and in writing. Provide clear and concise written reports. Create effective visual communications. Lead in the preparation and presentation of complex technology decisions and large projects, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, in a manner suitable for presentation to senior management.

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise complex work activities of others within the work group, team, department or other entity as necessary, and assumes role of project manager for assigned activities with demonstrated proficiency. Ensure efficient and timely performance of project work activities.

  • Manage, develop, review and coordinate the project plan, schedule, budget, tools, staff and performance metrics. Integrate change management activities into project plan. Prepare cost estimates for assignments.

  • Develop and actively manage working relationships with the project team, department staff, contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Foster teamwork to achieve the goals and objectives established for assignments.

Minimum Requirements: S&H Mgmt Systems Analyst Sr (Grade 08):

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or related field of study or associate degree in the same required disciplines with an additional two (2) years of IT field experience.

Experience: In addition to education requirement, six (6) years of relevant experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver license required.

Minimum Requirements: S&H Mgmt Systems Analyst Prin (Grade 09):

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or related field of study OR associate degree in the same required disciplines with an additional two (2) years of IT field experience.

Experience: In addition to education requirement, ten (10) years of relevant experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver license required.

Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility is required due to changing deadlines and priorities, and evolving deadlines.

  • Preference to have experience with Intelex and possess skills to develop SharePoint and mobile applications.

  • Preference to have at least 8 years of Electric Utility Experience or Safety & Health Experience.

  • Possess computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Possesses an advanced understanding of specialized technology principles and a thorough understanding of the interrelationship between systems.

  • Demonstrate competency in analytical and resolution techniques necessary to handle complex assignments.

  • Keep abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment.

  • Demonstrate ability to develop new approaches and to make decisions affecting long-range plans and goals based on analysis of uncertain input and outcomes.

  • Identify, clarify, resolve and initiate solutions to complex problems.

  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.

  • Collaborate with others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity.

  • Coordinate and provide cross-training to other employees as assigned.

  • Demonstrate ability and desire to seek out opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches.

  • Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon their organizational unit.

  • Understand how technical strategies and decisions impact the business units and their overall business functions.

  • 10% travel may be required.

Compensation Range: $113,069 - $154,919

$94,225.00-122,490.00 USD

AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate’s expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP’s staffing needs.
