COUNTY OF COLUSA Correctional Officer in Colusa, California

he Colusa County Sheriff's Office is a secure and professional correctional facility that is dedicated to maintaining the safety and security of our community. We are currently seeking qualified and motivated individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers.

The ideal Correctional Officer has the ability to think critically, displays a high level of integrity and trustworthiness, and possesses exceptional communication skills.

Selection Procedure

The following is a tentative schedule of event that will occur as part of the selection process:

  • Applications will be accepted until July 7, 2024
  • BSCC Test will tentatively be held on July 17, 2024
  • Oral Interviews
  • Background Investigation and Psychological Exam
  • Medical Exam

Supervision and Examples of Duties

Receives general supervision from sworn supervisory staff.

Qualifications

Experience and Training GuidelinesAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:No experience is required.

Training:Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

License or Certificate

Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid drivers license.

Ability to work irregular hours, holidays, and weekends.

Current enrollment or successful completion of the Correctional Officer Core Course (preferred but not required).

Possession of or ability to obtain Penal Code 832 Certificate.

Supplemental Information

The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
