Overview
A Sunrun Regional Safety Manager is responsible for the implementation of Sunrun Corporate Safety Policies and safety support for all Sunrun Leaders in their respective region. The Safety Manager is responsible for coaching field operations and sales team members to exhibit behaviors and work processes that create a safe work environment. This position is a cross functional leadership role and will report to the Director of EHS.
Responsibilities
Exemplify and promote a culture of safety at Sunrun
Represent the Sunrun Safety Department at a leadership level on the East Coast
Provide EHS regulatory and technical expertise to employees and management
Develop and conduct training to address regional risks and comply with Sunrun training requirements
Act as a point of contact for addressing employee concerns regarding health and safety
Assist in the development of corporate safety programs and training presentations
Write emergency evacuation plans for Sunrun facilities and lead drills periodically
Investigate incidents to identify root causes, determine how they might be prevented in the future, and communicate those findings to team members through written safety bulletins
Implement initiatives designed to reduce injury trends in certain locales or job functions
Inspect residential project sites, warehouses, offices, and vehicles for compliance with Sunrun safety policy and OSHA regulations
Ensure disciplinary actions are followed through when violations are found
Evaluate EHS regulatory compliance of subcontractors and build partners
Travel overnight 25-50% of the time
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in a relevant field of study is a plus
Minimum of 10 years of experience in general industry, construction, engineering or electrical trade work
ASP / CSP or equivalent level of field experience in safety
Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
Three years of this experience must be as a manager, supervisor, or equivalent position of leadership
Strong knowledge of safety regulations for construction and general industry (Federal, OSHA, and the basics of other state programs)
Subject matter expertise in the areas of fall protection, electrical safety, heat illness prevention, safe driving techniques, power tool use and ergonomics
Be a self motivated team player who strives to make a positive impact on the safe performance and overall success of Sunrun
Cross-functional partnership skills with human resources, operations, warehouse logistics, and sales staff to drive a culture of safety throughout the organization
Maintain a high level of professionalism with regard to professional presence, internal communication and customer interaction
Experience in developing and delivering professional presentations to line employees and leaders
Good knowledge of data analysis techniques and risk assessment
Familiarity with the insurance industry, specifically Workers’ Compensation claims
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and common email systems
Familiarity with the geography and social cultures of the Southeastern United States a plus
Good driving record is a must
Physical Demands
Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
Ability to climb extension ladders and work in attics/crawlspaces and on pitched rooftops
Ability to work safely on construction jobsites, and warehouses
Ability to operate office equipment including computers
Ability to positively interact with co-workers and participate in meetings
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
Ability to travel commercially as directed or required
