The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. The Orthopedic Equipment Tech I works under minimal supervision (i.e. assignments are specified, but the worker has considerable freedom within an established framework to choose procedures, timing, and methods, including the use of tools and equipment). The Orthopedic Equipment Technician II is the primary supervisor. The Orthopedic Equipment Technician I is not a supervisory position. Completion of work requires occasionally originating new methods and/or techniques. Decisions are varied but based on broad principles and guidelines. The Orthopedic Equipment Tech I has no financial responsibility but is accountable for assigned property. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.1. Design, fabricate, modify, repair and maintain seating systems and adaptive equipment to promote function and comfort, and to reduce the risk of medically related problems while maintaining reasonable balance between quality and quantity of work to ensure products are acceptable in appearance and function while completing products within a reasonable amount of time.2. Assist HT Therapist in the evaluation for design and/or modifications of wheelchairs or other adaptive equipment.3. Complete and turn in paperwork to ensure accurate and up to date workload measures.4.
