Under the direction of the department manager, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies
- Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
- Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
- Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
- Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient\'s bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (as low as reasonable achievable) standards.
- Maintains radiographic equipment and rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
- Assists with examination of higher complexity such as arteriography, pyelography, etc.
- Performs work of equal skill, effort, and responsibility as directed and may perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibility
- Follows hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
- Communicate with patients, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an approved two year program.
- Six months to be fully proficient preferred.
- ARRT registered or registry eligible.
