Maintenance Mechanic II- Dallas, TX
This is an hourly level position.
Position Summary:
The Maintenance position performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance, preventative maintenance, alteration, fabrication and repair of the building and equipment at a corn processing (sweetener) facility.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs minor and major repair of the building and equipment using a variety of hand tools and other equipment. (Major repairs may be performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)
Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis such as, but not limited to, checking fluid levels, replaces filters, inspect belts, greases bearings, repairs or replaces broken parts, HVAC maintenance.
Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.
Completes daily, weekly or monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
Installs electrical wiring and equipment, new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects and replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
Repairs electrical equipment and control circuits, replaces faulty electrical switches.
Fabricates items or parts from steel or other materials using cutting torches or other equipment.
Performs welding utilizing MIG, TIG or stick electrodes and soldering as needed in the maintenance, repair, alteration or fabrication of the building or equipment within the facility.
Operates equipment such as forklifts, man-lifts, or other vehicles.
Occasionally fills in for Product Loaders/Operator and must be knowledgeable of sweetener terminal operations.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; prefer one year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Supervisor, Manager or other employees. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems and ability to use hand and power tools to perform standard repairs.
Knowledge of MIG, TIG and Stick welding and ability to apply.
Knowledge of standard HVAC systems and ability to use hand and power tools to perform standard repairs (major repairs may be performed by qualified HVAC technician).
Knowledge of pumps and valves and ability to repair or replace.
Ability to function efficiently and productively as a team member with all the interpersonal skills required to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals/groups.
Ability to comprehend technical manuals and ability to apply the same.
Certifications and Licenses are generally not required. However, state certification and/or licenses may be required in some states depending upon the equipment worked on. For example, work on boilers over a certain PSI may require a certificate or license in some States.
Qualifications:
To be considered for an opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria: Commitment to ADM’s goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures, Exhibit regular and prompt attendance. Able to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: prolonged periods of standing and sitting, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc), lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Willing to work weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime if needed. Demonstrate initiative to work independently while flexible enough to work in team setting when needed. Exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Basic welding, layout and fabrication skills. Experience with V-belt and Chain drive systems. Machine troubleshooting and repair skills. Experience with 480 volt 3 phase motor circuits Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge a plus.
