We are looking for a Full-Time Senior Program Manager to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Dallas, TX. In this position, you will be responsible for managing a program of research to improve outcomes for cancer survivorship care. The Senior Program Manager will support the research program infrastructure develop and nurture partnerships, and execute strategic priorities. This is a hybrid position.

Position Summary:

The senior program manager will be responsible for managing a research program to improve outcomes for cancer survivorship care. The senior program manager will support the research program infrastructure, develop and nurture partnerships, and execute strategic priorities. This position functions in a leadership capacity in the research program.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversees all aspects of research program activities. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors progress. Provides direction and guidance to department personnel.

  • Provides day-to-day management and scientific direction of research studies of considerable scope and complexity.

  • Stays abreast of new and updated protocols and policies and develops, implements, and manages internal policies and procedures.

  • Manages compliance and ensures the department follows internal and external rules, regulations, and standards.

  • Manages/maintains annual budget, negotiates service contracts, progress reports, and/or authorizes expenditures.

  • Guide upper management, keep them informed of key activities, and make periodic progress reports.

  • Prepares progress reports and grant proposals to private foundations and governmental agencies. Works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission of grants.

  • Works closely with Investigators on strategic planning and overall direction of the research program. Identifies funding and collaboration opportunities, provides progress reports on research program activities, and tracks progress toward achieving milestones.

  • Interacts with state, federal, and private agency representatives regarding proposals and funded projects.

  • Communicate with the community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes. Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings.

  • Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports regarding recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • May require program-specific certifications.

Preferred:

  • Experience with research management and implementation. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. A high degree of professionalism and strong organizational skills are required.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

  • Seven (7) years of applicable experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in public health or health administration-related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
