Content Developer

Position Overview

The Content Developer is responsible for the design, development and versioning of content that creates highly engaging and interactive classroom, eLearning, and blended learning experiences. This role will focus on developing live and on-demand training content , partnering with subject matter experts, updating existing content, leveraging project management techniques to guide the learning solution from needs analysis to implementation , and assessing the content relevancy to keep the content up-to-date . The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating closely with different are as of the business, subject matter experts, and members of the Learning & Organizational Development team to deliver world-class content which impacts business results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, write & develop world-class eLearning (Online courses, videos, games, virtual toolkits, online reference materials, etc.) modules and courseware based on workflow and business requirements.

  • Partner with the Shaw Learning Academy, as well as other areas in Talent Management, to create impactful Instructor Led Training (including, but not limited to: storyboards, job aids, interactive exercises, instructor /participant guides , classroom presentations, and assessments, etc.).

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate with different areas of the organization and business partner groups.

  • Keep up with industry trends in order to propose creative solutions to design offerings that are relevant, engaging and effective for our internal/external clients.

  • Infuse Shaw’s cultural initiatives (PX, Shaw Way, Competency Model, etc ) throughout the content development process.

  • Continuously build personal knowledge of our products, our services, and the needs of our internal business partners and external customers.

  • Partner and share knowledge with peers and colleagues to enhance the team's overall capabilities.

  • Manage annual updates for existing programs.

  • Assist with managing the delivery of courses through the LMS.

  • Collaborate with other members of the Learning and Organizational Development team to brainstorm, problem-solve, and review each other’s work .

    Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years experience in Instructional System Design or Adult Education Development

  • Previous experience leading a team of training professionals is a plus

    Required Skills and Experience:

  • Significant, demonstrable skill with designing and developing dynamic t raining content, including both Instructor led courses and on - d emand eLearning courses . A reviewable portfolio of developed Instructor Guides, Participant G uides, and eLearning samples is required .

  • Proficiency in industry standard e L earning authoring tools ( Lectora , Storyline, Rise 360, etc.) as well as proficiency in audio/video production tools (Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Vyond, etc.)

  • Strong instructional design experience and familiarity with industry standard instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, etc.)

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and deliver quality results in a time-sensitive environment

  • Demonstrable experience writing scripts with interactive elements

  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects working independently and collaboratively with a team, while also dealing with multiple groups of stakeholders

  • Formal software application certifications are also a plus ( i.e. HTML5, Photoshop, inDesign , Storyline, etc.)

  • Understanding of structured writing techniques, modular content development, and the instructional development lifecycle

  • A track record of designing and creating compelling, training modules for audiences that include associates, business partners, and customers

  • Strong communication , writing, design, and project management skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills; can interact professionally with varied audiences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced team environment while seeking input from others

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
