Medical Office RN Vascular Surgery- Danbury, CT 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts 8:00am-4:30pm.

Summary : To assist the physician or physician assistant in providing primary medical care to the patients of the Office Practice. Conducts surgical time out's, mixing of anestetic tumescant, maintains sterile fields, trains and assesses staff for in office surgical procedures. Develops and implements in office policies and procdures and maintains IAC accreditation logs. Prepares patients for exams and wraps wound as well as triage all incoming clinical calls.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direct patient care, prepares materials, supplies, equipment and the patient to assist the physician or the physician assistant with the patient's medical exam. Obtains the patients history and basic medical data such as vital signs, temperature, height and weight, vision and chief complaint.

  2. Collects, prepares and analyzes patient specimens as directed by the physician or physician assistant. Instructs the patient and family on how to perform physician recommended preventive care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests, monitor treatment progress and note symptom changes.

  3. Performs sterile in office surgical procedure, including time out's, surgical consents, pre and post documentation, discarge instructions.

  4. Monitors medication inventory and expiration dates. Mixes medication for IV anesthesia. Implements policies and procedures needed for surgical practice as well as adjusts clinical staffing needs.

  5. Triages all clinical calls including medication renewals. Assists in rooming patients, wrapping wounds as well as assessing patients, completes disability and Home Care paperwork. Initiates Home Care OT, PT and in-home lymphatic pumps services.

  6. Maintains IAC standards of care and tracks complications in the accreditation log.

  7. Contacts the patient by telephone to provide requested follow-up, advises them of test results or relay a physician's instructions.

  8. Performs organizational responsibilities to achieve the Practices's and WCMG missions through a process of total quality improvement.

  9. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other information:

Required: Critical thinking and decision making. Supports MD's and PA's evaluation and care of patients. Adheres to sterile technique for patient safety and procedural policies for infection control. Provides supportive care to patients by being an expert in Vascular Care.

Minimum Experience: three years

Desired: Associates Degree preferred. Previous medical office experience preferred. Leadership skills.
