Certified Nursing Assistant (Overnight)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a critical role in providing direct care and support to clients. The CNA assists with daily living activities, monitors residents well-being, supports medical staff, and ensures a safe and supportive environment for clients.

-This position would be Monday through Friday, hours 11:00pm to 7:30am_

Essential Job Functions

Provides on-site daily support to residents, assisting with daily living activities.

Maintains a cordial, accommodating, and welcoming presence with patients at all times

Provides for the comfort, safety, privacy, and confidentiality of patients

Perform data collection including complete vital signs, brief health histories and medication usage

Assist in medication monitoring and compliance under the supervision of an RN or LPN

Assist in managing patient specimens and test reports

Effectively, consistently and accurately communicates current and changing patient status data to the physician and registered nurse

Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident living areas and medical treatment spaces.

Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols

Supports in crisis intervention by using de-escalation techniques when necessary.

Communicate effectively with nurses, counselors and other interdisciplinary team members.

Accurately record patient interactions, observations, and changes in condition in charts.

Assist in coordinating medical appointments and transportations as needed.

Consistently maintains compliance with regulations governing HIV: NYS Public Health Law, NYS OASAS Regulations, 42CFR, and other patient confidentiality requirements

Completes required medical record documentation in a timely and comprehensive manner and in compliance with NYS OASAS regulations. Effectively utilizes Agencys medical software program(s)

Maintains certification status as required by job title

Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Some knowledge of substance use disorder and its effects on the individual and family members.

Familiar with the resources available to individuals with substance use disorders.

Ability to recognize symptoms of substance use disorder and elicit information concerning underlying reasons for addiction.

Ability to accurately prepare and maintain required documentation.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the general public.

The Certified Nursing Assistant must be able to prioritize situations and manage time, and may find that they are needed at irregular hours causing fatigue and stress. May experience stress and stress related symptoms due to interacting with clients in crisis. S/he may be exposed to illness and unsanitary conditions so must take care to protect their own health. They may also have to manage physically threatening clients and be prepared to be responsible for their own safety, and the safety of others.

Qualifications

Certification: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in New York State

Experience: Prior experience in a behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment setting preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
