GE Aerospace Lead Quality Engineer in Dayton, Ohio
Job Description Summary
The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for both quality assurance and quality control. This includes but is not limited to quality assurance of products, services, and manufacturing processes, along with ensuring conformance for manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, and witness points. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Review Engineering Work Flow (EWR) workflow
Perform Element and Work Station Audits
Oversee receiving inspection and Outside Service Processes (OSP)
Fulfill FAR 145 fair station duties
Test and inspect product at various stages of the production and/or repair process
Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products
Select products for test at specified stages of production and/or repair
Record test data using statistical quality control procedures and prepare data in graph or chart form
Evaluate data and write summaries to validate or show deviations from existing standards
Use standard shop measuring devices, including micrometers, verniers, 10x Otoscope, shim stock, depth gages, plug, gages, and comparator
Analyze non-conforming hardware and documentation using blueprints, specifications, etc. and communicate non-conformance trends to engineering and appropriate managers
Retain records and charts to identify nonconformance/losses trends, including TIP QA Scrap Authority nonconformance
Assists Engineering in determining nonconformance root cause
Disposition parts for rework, re-inspections, submission to Material Review Board (MRB), or scrap
Read, plan, and verify fixture calibration
Complete first article inspections (FAI)
Operate and program CMM
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in manufacturing quality)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing quality
Minimum of 1 year of experience with new product introduction/launch/development
Desired Characteristics
3+ years of experience with new product introduction/launch/development
Working knowledge of Quality Systems procedures and requirements
GD&T experience (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
TipQA experience
Nonconformance Disposition experience
Precision Machining shop measurement working knowledge
AS9100 and FAI experience
Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) experience
Lean Manufacturing experience
Experience with final inspection and receiving inspection of supplier hardware
Manufacturing inspection certification
PC computer experience
