Ford Motor Company MFG IT Integration Lead in Dearborn, Michigan

The “IPI Service Manager” will lead a team responsible for installing and configuring Enterprise Technology assets used in the manufacture of powertrain components and vehicles. These include networks, compute and storage hardware, PLC configuration, application configuration including integration with peripheral devices (e.g. scanners, displays, Andons, etc) and with plant tooling (e.g. robots, conveyors, automated guided vehicles). The IPI Service Manager will be assigned one or more plants in the region listed above, and will manage all Enterprise Technology activities related to new model program launches at those sites.

  • Coordinate with IPI business office to determine demand and to schedule and deploy resources

  • Coordinate with IPI peers to manage peaks and valleys in demand

  • Work closely with ITO, PDO, Architects & plant to deliver solutions to the plants on schedules dictated by GPDS milestones

  • Build and maintain relationships with Site IT, VOME and/or PTME personnel at each plant, and with launch leaders for each launch

  • Work closely with IPI peers to drive adherence to standards, and also to challenge and improve standards and processes where appropriate

  • Manage your team, including hiring new and/or replacement resources, and dispersal as and when necessary. Manage performance of individuals and drive their development, including technical skills and Ford+ behaviors

  • Manage project budgets, headcount, project status, and track and resolve issues and risks

  • Seek to understand industry trends and challenges status quo with innovative ideas; Challenge the notion “it can’t be done”

  • Implement and manage a robust change management process

  • Travel to plant locations. This is expected to be roughly 30% of your time, with peaks exceeding 50% of your time during launch periods.

  • Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information technology or a technology related field

  • Require a minimum of 8+ years of experience

  • Understanding of Ford Manufacturing Production systems

  • Knowledge of networks, hosting, and related physical infrastructure

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally (English)

  • Expert level understanding of project management principles

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and related skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Builds strong relationships with a broad set of stakeholders.

  • Able to occasionally work while standing on a factory floor (1-2 hours at a time).

  • Able to occasionally climb stairs on a factory floor.

Able to travel for 1-2 weeks at a time, potentially including out of the country, although this should be rare. Travel requirements will see peaks and valleys associated with the launch cycle.
