This is a salaried, exempt-level position.

The role of the Engineering Services Manager is to oversee the ADM Engineering Services team.

The team's core internal competencies are Mechanical Process Piping (MPP) and Civil Structural Architectural (CSA) divisions. This role is expected to continuously improve the value of the team toward our ADM operational customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Project Work:

  • Manage the allocation of work requests from ADM stakeholders to the appropriate ADM engineering services team or third party partners

  • Manage resource availability to levels necessary to efficiently deliver project results to our operational customers and stakeholders

  • Support operations in setting standards and providing subject matter experts in a broad array of engineering request such as process safety and structural design

  • Gain and perform work within the team to keep existing engineering services staff appropriately chargeable (80% +/-)

Communications:

  • Meet periodically with supervisor and engineering services team to ensure current conditions and future goals are in alignment with the CapEx Technology Centers objective of supporting operation’s needs

  • Advocate the engineering services teams value to key customers within ADM

Budget:

  • The intent of Engineering Services is to be a break-even profit center within ADM, i.e. the team’s cost is not a burden on the corporate overhead

  • Range of acceptable profit/loss is +8% to -8% in any given year

Management:

  • Delegate project tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel within the team

  • Mentor and develop team members to effectively perform tasks needed to deliver projects

  • Guide teams to develop engineering standards to improve consistency of design within our operational facilities

Scheduling:

  • Monitor the projects that are being managed by the Project Managers to assure that schedules are in-line with CAPEX project manager expectations

Work Conditions:

  • To build a cohesive team, this is an in office position based out of the Decatur, IL North America Headquarters

  • Occasional travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in an Engineering discipline

  • 15+ years of direct engineering experience

  • 5+ years engineering group management

  • Demonstrated experience and competency as a team leader in all aspects of employee management, including the ability to mentor & develop personnel to achieve department goals is critical to the success of this team

  • Demonstrated experience using written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills effectively, including the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering certifications and/or Engineering licensure

  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently, including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial

  • Experience working independently and in team-oriented, collaborative environment
