Taurus Industrial Group Mechanical Engineer in Deer Park, Texas

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Taurus Industrial Group, Specialty Services business unit, located in Freeport and Pasadena, TX, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with Millwright, Field Machining, and Fabrication experience to augment our supervisory staff in monitoring, providing field support, and optimizing our service capabilities of several types of rotating equipment.

The incumbent, reporting to the President, Specialty Services within a matrix organization will also drive processes and product improvements while maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus. The position interacts with senior management, other technical groups, and business units, as well as on site process engineering, maintenance, and capital project work, technical networks, peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to resolve problems and improve safety, reliability, and performance.

Roles and Responsibilities

Augment supervision and managerial resources, ensuring safety, quality, and financial performance of the business unit.

Maintain a strong safety and environmental compliance focus.

Apply data analysis techniques to develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other problems related to turbomachinery.

Consult with peers at the site and across the company.

Serve as a resource and conduit to share machinery best practices and leverage operating improvement opportunities across the site and company.

Provide technical support/expertise in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets to minimize life cycle cost and maximize asset availability of machinery.

Participate in developing design and installation specifications and commissioning plans for machinery.

Participate in developing criteria for and evaluating equipment and technical MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.

Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria.

Maintain awareness of emerging technology, assessing applicability to improve reliability and performance, or to reduce maintenance cost of machinery.

Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions for machinery.

Provide technical support to production, maintenance, project, and process engineering groups for machinery issues.

Provide technical support for developing routine and turnaround overhaul repair scope for machinery.

Provide input to long-range capital and turnaround plans for machinery.

Manage risk to achieve the organization's strategic objectives in environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality, and production.

Support and mentor other technical personnel, specialists, and machinery condition monitoring analysts in resolving machinery issues.

Ensure consistent adherence to site machinery workflow processes.

Systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an asset maintenance plan for machinery that includes:

o Value-added preventive maintenance tasks

o Effective utilization of predictive methodologies to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.

Qualifications

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5years

Direct experience with rotating equipment such as pumps, centrifugal compressors, and reciprocating compressors.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, or power generation industries

(Preference)

Effective communication skills-both verbally and in writing.

Must have proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point, and conveying technical information.

Demonstrated strong independent decision-making skills.

General knowledge of project management, reliability engineering, and root cause analysis_

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
