Gates Co Payroll Accounting Manager in Denver, Colorado

WHAT TO EXPECT As the Payroll Accounting Manager, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join our global team located in our downtown Denver office. You'll be responsible for month-end payroll accounting reconciliations. This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will serve as the back-up to the Senior Payroll Manager for processing in-house payroll for approximately 4,000 employees in a manufacturing environment. This position will also function as a liaison between ADP and the Company for ADP's tax preparation for four separate FEINs and approximately 45 states. This position will also assist the Senior Payroll Manager with special projects Key responsibilities: Month end payroll accounting reconciliations and journal entries. Ad-hoc accounting team requests and projects involving payroll data. Acting as a liaison with ADP to ensure timely and accurate filing, payment, and reconciliation of all federal, state, local and unemployment payroll taxes. Serving as the back-up to the Senior Payroll Manager in running in-house Oracle payroll. This includes ensuring timeliness and accuracy of all data processed and submitted for payment. Participating in special projects as assigned by Senior Payroll Manager. This could include acting as project or business lead on payroll related projects. Ensuring compliance with Mandate for Fundamental Financial Controls and existing SOX matrixes, identifies, and recommends controls changes to the Senior Payroll Manager. Participating in and supporting testing and all internal and external audit activities.

Creating and documenting new/updated processes as needed.

ABOUT YOU BS in Accounting or Finance, preferred (or equivalent experience). Strong Excel knowledge, desired pivot tables, V-look ups, etc. Minimum of 5 years of payroll professional experience preferred. Excited to work in the office with great teammates. Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts and ability to reconcile payroll accounts and prepare/understand payroll journal entries Payroll processing and timekeeping knowledge, manufacturing environment a plus Experience with in-house payroll processing in ERP system, Oracle experience a plus Understanding of multi-state payroll tax reporting Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy of data Self-motivated, capable of seeking quality solutions and continuously focusing on process improvements, while keeping the needs of the business in the forefront Demonstrated problem solving with an understanding of appropriate escalation points Extremely organized with an ability to juggle multiple priorities and flexible to accommodate changing business needs and deadlines Composure under time pressure; demonstrated reliability Strong communication skills, written and verbal Takes responsibility for personal development Demonstrated knowledge of basic SOX controls and auditing processes and is committed to the importance of accounting standards and controls Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PAY & BENEFITS Full-Time: $85,000 - $105,000 Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 ho idays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days.
