We currently have an exciting opportunity in our molding department for an Automation Technician at our Devens, MA location. Under guidance of the Automation Supervisor and Automation Technician, employee will learn the scope of Automation equipment from development through maintenance. This position will also work with existing equipment in use as well as equipment for upcoming projects. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Troubleshoot and maintain custom electromechanical equipment, automated work cells, vision systems and multi axis robotics. Initiate and complete technical activities leading to improved production processes. Manage daily tasks and communicate progress to impacted groups. Provide technical assistance to others as needed. Interface with NPD and other groups to ensure successful new product launches Comply with regulatory SWI?s and SOP?s as required Perform automation changeovers as needed. Proper safety of all assigned equipment and materials Documentation (DMR, quality forms and related materials) Assembly operation and maintain acceptable reject rates. Maintain compliance with all required documentation & reports Maintain good housekeeping and clean room practice Regular attendance and professionalism. Perform other duties as required. Essential Qualifications: A minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant industry experience Interest with PLC programming, Vision systems, robotics, pneumatics, and electronics. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and multitask Strong team player, self-motivated Attention to detail Ability to read, write and communicate in English Understanding of Plastic Injection Molding Knowledge of Wittmann robots and pendant functions Knowledge of EOAT?s (End of arm tools) and maintenance Desirable Qualifications: Associates degree / certificate. Robotic programming experience. Experience with lean manufacturing concepts. Experience with electrical and pneumatic schematics ADA Requirements: Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 50 lbs. occasionally Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection At SMC Ltd. we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
