Job Description:

Summary:

Under the direction of Assigned Management, this position provides administrative support services to the Welfare Benefit Group in the form of general file management and record management, including coordination and oversight of matters assigned to or through the Welfare Benefit Group and responds to internal or external inquiries regarding pertinent issues. This position assists in drafting, reviewing, and editing plan documents and summary plan descriptions (PDs/SPDs), summaries of benefits and coverage (SBC), plan amendments, and summaries of material modifications (SMMs).

Essential Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for handling incoming correspondence, intake, tracking and monitoring status, and reporting of matters assigned through the Welfare Benefit Group e-mail box.
  • Opens, evaluates, sorts mail for importance, urgency and distribution.
  • Processes written and/or e-mail correspondence and routes to appropriate person for completion.
  • Communicates effectively via inbound/outbound calls with internal and external customer (to do what).
  • Supports other operational areas based on business need while being flexible and adapting to changing work environments.
  • Assists in drafting and reviews of welfare benefit plan documentation according to certain standards and processes.
  • Works with specialists to prepare and review welfare benefit plan Form 5500s and assists external clients with filing, as requested.
  • Supports the provision of access to external clients for the non-discrimination testing website and assistance with questions and any tests failures.
  • Establishes and maintains client billing records.
  • Participates in the implementation of plan design, responds to internal and external client inquiries with respect to plan design and plan documentation, and attends client meetings, as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate records and files of all written materials and communications regarding plan design and plan documentation.
  • Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Benefit Solution's mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies or a related field with a minimum of one year of employee benefits experience or a minimum of three years of claims processing experience. Knowledge of coding (ICD9/10, CPT) and claim adjudication processes preferred.
  • Attention to detail; analytical ability; good organizational skills; ability to multi-task, work independently, prioritize work assignments and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of relevant provisions of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, HIPAA, COBRA, and Health Care Reform.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to learn about welfare benefit plan regulatory requirements, including the willingness and ability to keep up to date with such requirements.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel to regions, as necessary

Compensation Range(s):

Minimum $18.55 - Maximum $26.90

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position's minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package.
