UnitedHealth Group Loan Accounting Manager - Hybrid in Draper UT in Draper, Utah

As the Loan Accounting Manager of Optum Bank, you will be accountable for assisting the Bank Controller with the accounting, control activities, and financial reporting related to the Bank’s various loan portfolios. You will assist the Controller by managing a loan accounting team, researching technical accounting issues and business strategies related to lending, as well as ad hoc analysis. You will provide operational and technical accounting expertise to help ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, rules, bank regulation and laws.

NOTE: Qualified candidates must live in the Draper UT / Salt Lake City UT regional area to be considered (hybrid working environment 3 days per week in the Draper UT office location)

If you are located in Draper UT , you will have the flexibility to work remotely*, as well as work in the office as you take on some tough challenges. Hybrid - 2 days remote and 3 days in the Draper UT office location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper, efficient execution of the Bank’s accounting function related to accounting for various loan and lease programs

  • Develop and maintain adequate controls to safeguard the Bank’s lending assets

  • Maintain loan accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective financial controls with an emphasis on FDICIA controls

  • Assist with the compilation of lending schedules on the Bank’s quarterly Call Reports and other required regulatory reporting

  • Coordinate the monthly accounting close entries related to loans and review key account reconciliations

  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to management and the Bank’s parent company based on promulgated time requirements and to all external constituents including banking regulators and the Bank’s Board of Directors

  • Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements and related footnotes and disclosures for external audit and manage external audits

  • Research and document technical accounting guidance and reporting requirements for new lending and lease products

  • Work with the Controller in developing budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and strategic planning

  • Manage the work of accounting staff to ensure reconciliations are completed timely and accurately

  • Assist with Ad hoc projects related to accounting processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial services or a related industry

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Advanced Formulas)

  • Willing to work in a hybrid work environment, with at least 3 days per week reporting to the Draper UT office location

  • Lives in the Draper UT / Salt Lake City UT Regional Area to be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or advanced degree

  • Public accounting experience

  • Experience working with bank regulatory examiners

  • Management / Supervisory experience

  • PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion Essbase knowledge
